FOOD DONORS

Where your donation goes

People in poverty don’t need your sympathies, they need actions! Make a difference today and donate.

Donations to our charity help us to keep fighting hidden hunger and food poverty head on.

Due to our incredibly modern and innovative model, we don’t spend any money on the food we serve. This means every penny you donate goes a long way. Funding we receive supports our development as a charity by helping us to invest in our future for the benefit of our guests.

Want to help our current campaign?

CoTH is in desperate need of a permanent hub. Without a consistent base we’ll lose the meaningful connections we’ve developed that make such a vital contribution to the wellbeing and quality of life of our guests.

When we closed our then hub and our Back-to-Work scheme due to COVID-19, we saw guests fall back into drug use and other dangerous situations that posed a risk to themselves and others in the community. No other organisation is successfully applying this environmentally aware approach, focused on long-term wellbeing, to supporting individuals in the community. This is why a permanent hub is now so vital.

Please, donate today and help us to secure long-term nourishment and support for those most vulnerable in our communities.

Able to give more?

We love our monthly donors. They believe in our cause and support us in reaching our long-term goals. By signing up to our monthly giving, you’ll make a significant impact on our ability to continue the work we do far into the future. Not only this, you’ll also become a key member of the community CoTH is building. When opting in, CoTH will update you with quarterly newsletters and invite you down to the hub for seasonal donor celebration evenings.

Come and join the movement. Donate here.

Individual Volunteers

Unfortunately, we can't accept new hub volunteers at the moment as we are unable to operate our usual food redistribution service while we don't have a hub. However, if you would like to offer your services in office admin, PR/ marketing, volunteer coordination or social media management please don't hesitate to get in touch. We could always use your help to make us more attractive tenants so we can be up and running again asap!

Volunteers help reduce detrimental food waste and support London’s residents with access to healthy nutritious food. Put simply, without them, CoTH wouldn’t be the charity it is today.

Want to join our hub team?

We love creating fun experiences for our hub volunteers, and always hear how great it feels to be a part of the buzzing community spirit Brixton Market has to offer.

While volunteering for us you’ll get involved by walking around the market, collecting food from our trusted Houses and returning it to our hub to sort and distribute to guests. We’ll then open our doors and invite you to interact with guests, helping them with queries, accessing the food on offer and sitting down with them for a chat.

All volunteers are given training before every shift, and an experienced hub manager will be on hand to support you with anything you need.

We ask that hub volunteers turn up at exactly 4pm to start their shift, this is flexible depending on your work schedule, and stay until 9pm when we close to best support our service and the guests.

Want to make a difference? Sign up here.

Want to join our office team?

CoTH is always looking for creative and inspiring individuals to support our behind-the-scenes operations. Whether you’re just starting work or want a career change, working with us will give you the opportunity to boost your employability skills in an adaptive and welcoming environment.

We regularly offer new roles within the team, from fundraising to admin to social media. Make sure to check out our jobs board below for our latest vacancies. If there’s a role where you feel could really make a difference, and you have the skills to support us, please do get in touch.

We ask that office volunteers commit to two days a week for at least three months, to properly invest in their own potential while supporting the charity.

Get in touch! Send your CV and a cover letter to hello@complimentsofthehouse.org Don’t forget to tell us if you have any particular skills or expertise!

We are always in need for people who want to help the community through us.

Food donors

Our innovative approach to tackling the ever-growing and problematic issue of food waste involves collecting cooked surplus food from local restaurants, cafes, and supermarkets. Instead of going to waste in landfill, it feeds those in need instead.

This is where you come in!

We want to help as many businesses as possible to donate their surplus to those who need it. Not only will you be doing your bit to support Brixton’s most vulnerable residents, you’ll also be reducing your waste which lowers your organisation’s carbon footprint. It’s a no brainer!

How does it work?

Sign up as a food partner and we’ll collect your surplus food every weekday anytime between 4.40pm and 10pm. We’ll then take this back to our hub to sort and redistribute to those in need. If you’re not in Brixton but have surplus food to offer, please still get in touch. Our charity vans mean we can collect food from further afield and still get this to those struggling with hunger in London.

Get in touch by emailing team@complimentsofthehouse.org or drop in and say hi at our hub.

Unfortunately, we can’t accept food donations from the public for health and safety reasons. However, we’d still love your support. You can also donate time, money or patronage, and make a huge difference to the lives of our guests.

CoTH provides an amazing service, giving food and support to those in need while encouraging sustainability. Sinéad the founder does an absolutely incredible job in running CoTH and is so dedicated. I love volunteering there – over time I have felt a real sense of community between other volunteers and service users, and have grown in confidence. It has been an invaluable experience working with Sinéad, and I feel passionately about reducing food waste and our impacts on the environment. Most importantly it is about solidarity, supporting and helping one another, especially in this time of high homelessness and inequality in London.

HAVE LEFT OVER FOOD TO GIVE?

To combat the food waste we re-distribute to people in need.

Fundraising for the public

Thank you for your interest in fundraising for CoTH!

Fundraising is a great way to champion your favourite charity, and, here at CoTH, public support goes a long way.

Why support us

Throughout the Covid-19 pandemic we worked hard to provide vital nourishing food for those most at risk. Our rapid emergency response service regularly supported over 100 families and individuals, with food parcels delivered to their door every two weeks from March 2020 to 2021. Now, we need your help to continue supporting those still overwhelmed by the effects of the pandemic.

Food provision not only has a huge impact on the physiological nourishment of our bodies. It also provides invaluable help with mental wellbeing for those who are struggling to support themselves.

Your fundraising will benefit our guests by securing them ease of access to food and vastly improving their quality of life.

What we can do for you

Want to host an event? Looking for the next adrenaline rush? Whatever you're doing to raise money, we're here to inspire you to smash your fundraising target.

Eden, one of our valued hub managers, shaved his head back in early 2020 to help our delivery service get up and running! He raised an incredible £ via his live stream of the event. Thank you, Eden!

Mike, self-proclaimed ‘Not a runner’, ran 5K every time someone donated £5 back in May 2020. He shared this with his followers and supporters via his Instagram every day and raised an amazing £1588 for CoTH.

TPT London Run Club

Calvin Dass encouraged his running club to support CoTH with a 28-4-28 campaign. For the 28 days of February, they encouraged anyone to get involved in completing a total travelling distance of either 28 miles or 28km for donations of £28 or above. Together they ran, biked, swam and walked through February, raising an amazing £2,128 for CoTH.

Capitolis

Capitolis first contacted us in 2020 to offer support and have since returned for a second year. Their donation drives with clients have been incredibly successful, helping to raise £15,529.50 for the charity and partially funding our vital delivery vans.
